Prime Video has announced that LOL: Qui Rira Le Dernier?, the hit Quebecois version of the global comedy format, will be back for two more seasons.
Stand-up comedian, actor, writer, director, and producer Patrick Huard (Bon Cop Bad Cop, Starbuck), who hosted the first season of LOL: Qui Rira Le Dernier?, will be back to host Seasons 2 and 3 of the hit Canadian Amazon Original series.
The comedy-reality-competition series features ten French-speaking comedic talent who try to make everyone but themselves laugh during six hours together in one room. The last one to laugh (or not laugh, as it were) wins the contest and a monetary prize for the charity of their choice. Dozens of cameras capture the hilarious action between the cast, which includes established comedy stars and up-and-coming talent who bring various styles to the table, including stand-up, character, improvisational, and physical comedy.
Said Patrick Huard:
“That takes me back to when I was a teenager, to that adrenaline high of getting folks to laugh with the sole purpose of having fun! For weeks, people everywhere have been talking to me about it…laughing. And that really makes me happy. Those are the reasons it wasn’t hard to persuade me to host seasons 2 and 3. Not to mention the pleasure of finding ideas to torture participants even more!”
LOL: Qui Rira Le Dernier? is an adaptation of Documental, the successful Japanese Amazon Original series which has spawned local versions in Australia, Canada (with versions in English and French), France, Germany, India (with versions in Hindi and Tamil), Italy, Mexico, and Spain — as well as Argentina, which launches this Thursday, March 16, at 8PM ET.
LOL: Qui Rira Le Dernier? Seasons 2 and 3 will premieres globally and exclusively on Prime Video (dates tba). Stay tuned for updates.
