Netflix has set the premiere date for Glass Heart, a new music drama series from Japan.

Based on the “Glass Heart” stories by Mio Wakagi, Glass Heart follows Akane Saijo (Yu Miyazaki, Light of My Lion), a college student and drummer who finds herself suddenly kicked out of the band she’s been playing with.
However, things take a turn when the brilliant musician, Naoki Fujitani (Takeru Satoh, First Love), stumbles upon her talent and invites her to join his new band, TENBLANK, which includes guitarist Sho Takaoka (Keita Machida, Alice in Borderland) and keyboardist Kazushi Sakamoto (Jun Shison, Fermat’s Cuisine). With Fujitani’s unparalleled compositions and the quartet’s intense and electrifying performances, TENBLANK quickly takes the world by storm.
But as the band continues its remarkable rise, daunting obstacles stand in its way, including conflicts with Toya Shinzaki (Masaki Suda, Parasyte: The Grey), the charismatic vocalist in rival band OVER CHROME, that Fujitani must navigate, while he becomes entangled in the schemes of a powerful music industry producer.
Throughout these challenges, though, the band members support each other, deepening their bonds and growing as a destiny-bound unit.
Glass Heart, a Netflix Series, premieres globally on Thursday, July 31, exclusively on Netflix. (You can set a reminder for it now.)
The cast also includes Erika Karata (The Queen of Villains) as Miyako Kai, TENBLANK’s manager; Pistol Takehara (Sai) as Genji Kamiyama; Akari Takaishi (The Parades) as diva Yukino Sakurai; YOU as Momoko Saijo, Akane’s mother and confidante; Naohito Fujiki (Antihero) as envious music producer Ichidai Isagi; Takayuki Yamada (Tokyo Swindlers) as the vocalist of the popular rock band Takaoka once belonged to; Reini (Hitman from Today) as Mahiro Arisugawa from OVER CHROME; and Miku Uehara (The Naked Director) as Akane’s friend.
Featuring scenes that include thousands of extras for music performances, the series is directed by Kôtarô Gotô (The Naked Director) and Kensaku Kakimoto (One Night Morning), and produced by Takeru Satoh and Go Abe.
