Shiny Happy People: A Teenage Holy War (Season 2) (US)

This critically-acclaimed docuseries, whose first season, titled Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets, unveiled the truth behind the Duggar Family and the Institute in Basic Life Principles (IBLP), returns with a second season, titled Shiny Happy People: A Teenage Holy War. This season moves on from IBLP and dives headfirst into the Evangelical teen pop culture that exploded across the US in the 1990s and 2000s, as well as the larger forces focused on harnessing their earnest faith for far-reaching influence.

But beneath the wholesome youth group illusion lies a darker undercurrent: a high-pressure pipeline of brutal spiritual boot camps, surreal role-playing scenarios, and relentless psychological control — all under the command of a charismatic leader with endlessly expanding ambitions.

Twisted Metal: Season 2 (US)

Based on the “Twisted Metal” video game franchise, the new season of this action-fantasy-comedy thriller finds John (Anthony Mackie, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Altered Carbon) and Quiet (Stephanie Beatriz, A Man on the Inside, Brooklyn Nine-Nine) entering the deadly Twisted Metal tournament, a sinister demolition derby hosted by a mysterious man known as Calypso (Anthony Carrigan, Barry, Gotham). As they try to survive an onslaught of dangerous new foes and familiar faces alike, including the murderous clown Sweet Tooth (Will Arnett, Arrested Development & Murderville and Joe “Samoa Joe” Seanoa, “AEW” & “WWE” series), things get complicated for John when he reunites with his long-lost sister, the vigilante Dollface (Sadiqua Bynum, Warrior Nun).

Twisted Metal: Season 2 premieres in the US on Thursday, July 31, exclusively on Peacock.
