The new period drama Hedda is a provocative, modern reimagining of Hedda Gabler, the classic play by Henrik Ibsen, considered a masterpiece in the genres of literary realism, 19th-century theater, and world drama.

Primetime Emmy® nominee Tessa Thompson (Sylvie’s Love, Westworld, “Creed” films) stars as Hedda Gabler, a woman who finds herself torn between the lingering ache of a past love and the quiet suffocation of her present life. Over the course of one charged night, long-repressed desires and hidden tensions erupt, pulling her and everyone around her into a spiral of manipulation, passion, and betrayal.

Hedda, an Amazon Original Movie, premieres globally on Wednesday, October 29, exclusively on Prime Video.

A production of Orion Pictures and Plan B Entertainment, the film is written and directed by Nia DaCosta (Candyman, Top Boy), and costars Imogen Poots (Outer Range, I Know This Much Is True), Tom Bateman (Based on a True Story, Behind Her Eyes), Nicholas Pinnock (Long Bright River, For Life), and Nina Hoss (Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, Homeland).
