Amazon Freevee has announced that Emmy® winner Jeannie Mai Jenkins will host the new cooking competition series America’s Test Kitchen: The Next Generation.
Millions of folks across the US (yours truly included) have been tuning in to America’s Test Kitchen (ATK) on our local PBS stations for years (and streaming it, too). In a little more than seven weeks, we’ll get to see some of our favorite cast members in a different role on a new Original series from Amazon Freevee, the free ad-supported streaming video service.
The spin-off cooking competition show America’s Test Kitchen: The Next Generation sees ATK stars Dan Souza, Elle Simone Scott, Jack Bishop, and Julia Collin Davison serve as judges for the home cooks from across the country who are competing to see who has what it takes to join the ATK team. Hosting the ten-episode series is Emmy® Award winner Jeannie Mai Jenkins, a former co-host of the nationally-syndicated talk show The Real, a former contestant on the hit competition series Dancing with the Stars, and the creator and host of the weekly web series Hello Hunnay and the podcast Listen Hunnay.
Each of the eleven contestants will compete in a series of challenges that test their culinary abilities and on-camera personality, and present their dishes to the judges, each one an ATK icon: Dan Souza, editor-in-chief of Cook’s Illustrated and science expert; Elle Simone Scott, executive editor at America’s Test Kitchen and food-styling guru; creative director and tasting lab expert Jack Bishop, the patriarch of America’s Test Kitchen; and Julia Collin Davison, executive editorial director and an original cast member and co-host of America’s Test Kitchen and Cook’s Country. Episodes will feature special guest judges, as well. The last cook standing will get the job of a lifetime: becoming the newest face of America’s Test Kitchen, the opportunity to write their own cookbook, and a $100,000 prize to fund the culinary business of their dreams.
America’s Test Kitchen: The Next Generation premieres in the US and UK on Friday, December 9, exclusively on Amazon Freevee. New episodes will debut weekly through February 10. In addition, 200 episodes from previous seasons of America’s Test Kitchen and Cook’s Country are currently available — both on demand and on the America’s Test Kitchen FAST channel.
