Netflix announced today the global premiere date for The Matchmaker, a psychological thriller from Saudi Arabia.
Set against the striking backdrop of AlUla, a city steeped in history and which brings an undercurrent of magic to the story, The Matchmaker is one of the first psychological thrillers from Saudi Arabia.
The film follows Tarek (Hussam Alharthy, The Fates Hotel), an IT worker who develops an intense infatuation for the beautiful young woman (Nour Alkhadra, HWJN) interning at his office. Not content to just crush on her, he follows her to a desert resort, one beset by bizarre forces, where a matchmaker (Reem Alhabib, Kidnap) promises to pair men with their perfect bride. But when Tarek wanders outside the bounds of the resort, he uncovers an ancient vengeance.
The Matchmaker, a Netflix Film, premieres globally on Thursday, April 27, exclusively on Netflix. (You can set a reminder for it now.)
Shot entirely in AlUla, a UNESCO World Heritage site in Saudi Arabia, the film is produced by Telfaz11 and directed by Abdulmohsin Aldabaan (42 Days).
