Netflix has set the global premiere date for Rich in Love 2, the sequel to the popular Brazilian romantic comedy film Rich in Love. Check out the trailer.
With Rich in Love having won the hearts of millions of viewers and achieving the top spot in the ranking of most-watched productions on Netflix Brazil when it launched in 2020, the global streamer follows up the first film with a continuation of the romantic comedy’s story.
In Rich in Love 2, Paula (Giovanna Lancellotti, Summer Heat) and Teto (Danilo Mesquita, Spectros) will have face and learn to deal with the difficulties disrupting their relationship. For her part, Paula pursues her dreams and resumes her work as a volunteer doctor, going on another mission with an indigenous community in the Amazon. Meanwhile, Teto tries to convince his partners to establish his tomato cooperative in a village in the region, but in order to save the company from bankruptcy and win back Paula’s heart, he must overcome his spoiled habits and deal with the interests of a powerful farmer.
The film’s cast includes Fernanda Paes Leme (Unsuspicious), Jaffar Bambirra (The Big Catch), Lellê (Total Dreamer), Adanilo Reis (Dom), Kay Sara (Invisible City), Aline Dias (Not My Fault: Brazil), Roney Villela (Elite Squad 2: The Enemy Within), and Ernani Moraes (Jailers), amongst others.
Also returning is Brazilian musician, DJ, and record producer Alok, who collaborates with indigenous artists on new songs for the film’s soundtrack, which features Brazilian singer-songwriter Jão on the theme song.
The film is directed by Bruno Garotti (Confessions of an Invisible Girl), who co-wrote the script with Sylvio Gonçalves (I Go Crazy) and in collaboration with Maíra Oliveira (Mila in the Multiverse) and Jama Wapichana. The producer is Ananã Filmes, with Julio Uchôa and Irina Neves as executive producers.
Rich in Love 2 premieres globally on Friday, June 2, exclusively on Netflix. (You can set a reminder for it now.)
