Prime Video has set the premiere date for Saturday with Dad (Sabtu Bersama Bapak), a brand-new limited series drama from Indonesia. Check out the trailer.
In Saturday With Dad, Vino G. Bastian (Qodrat) stars as the titular father, Gunawan, who learns that he has a terminal illness and doesn’t have much time left with his wife, Itje (Marsha Timothy, Marlina the Murderer in Four Acts), and their two children.
Given that he won’t be around to show his love and offer guidance to his sons to help them as they grow up, Gunawan sets about making a series of videos to give them some semblance of that in his absence, while spending as much time as he can with them and Itje until he can no longer do so. His recorded messages convey his love and his thoughts about family, life, dealing with challenges, and more. As the boys grow up, Itje lets them watch the videos every Saturday so they can hear their father’s voice, feel his love, and take in everything he could give them through these gifts.
We also see the sons, Satya and Saka, as young adults — living the life lessons they learned from their father.
Saturday with Dad (Sabtu Bersama Bapak), an Amazon Original series, premieres globally on Thursday, June 29, exclusively on Prime Video.
Based on the 2016 film of the same name, itself based on the best-selling novel by Adhitya Mulya, the series costars Adipati Dolken (Posesif), Enzy Storia (Hello Ghost), Rey Mbayang (Cinta Subuh), and Dinda Hauw (Say I Love You).
