Amongst them are the four titles below.

FROM LATIN AMERICA

The Envoys: Season 2 (Los Enviados) (Mexico-Argentina)

Season 1 of The Envoys, a mystery-horror thriller, is the top-performing Spanish-language series on Paramount+ in the US. The series follows two Vatican priests — Pedro Salinas (Luis Gerardo Méndez, Narcos: Mexico, Club de Cuervos) and Simón Antequera (Miguel Ángel Silvestre, 30 Coins, Sky Rojo) — who travel to the small Mexican town of San Acacio to verify a supposed miraculous healing by a local priest, who then mysteriously disappears. Shortly thereafter, they discover on the outskirts of town a psychiatric community that seems to be hiding secrets about the missing priest, the miracles, and other disappearances — pushing Pedro and Simón’s lives and their faith to the limit.

Yet they persevere, and together with Sister Emilia (Assira Abbate, Empire of Lies), the three form an effective investigation team, unafraid to face the divine and the human to find the truth. Even if it means they have to put their faith, their intelligence, their values, and their contradictions at stake, because they know that, behind the miracles, whether they’re true or not, there are always hidden interests and mysteries. The premiere date for The Envoys: Season 2 has not been announced yet, but the new season is expected to debut globally by the end of 2023. Stay tuned for updates.

The series is produced by 100 Bares, Portocabo, and Paramount Television International Studios, and distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.

FROM SOUTH KOREA

Bargain

This year’s winner of the Critics’ Choice Award at the Serien Camp Festival in Cologne and for Best Screenplay at Canneseries, drama thriller Bargain revolves around a group of strangers, each of whom has an ulterior motive, who gather at a remote motel in order to get a bargain. But unlike the original 2016 film of the same name, the series follows the characters after an unexpected earthquake traps them inside the building. With no one to trust, they must find a way to survive.

Bargain premieres globally (outside of South Korea) as a six-episode binge on Thursday, October 5, exclusively on Paramount+.

Developed by Paramount+ and TVING, out of Paramount’s global partnership with the Korean entertainment company CJ ENM, Bargain is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution outside of South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan.

A Bloody Lucky Day

A Bloody Lucky Day is an action thriller series that follows Taek (Lee Sung-min, Shadow Detective, Reborn Rich), an ordinary taxi driver who gets entangled with a customer that turns out to be a serial killer. The cast includes Yoo Yeon-seok (Hospital Playlist, Mr. Sunshine) and Lee Jung-eun (Parasite, The Queen’s Umbrella). Produced by CJ ENM’s production house Studio Dragon, The Great Show, and Studio N, the series is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution outside of South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan. The premiere date for A Bloody Lucky Day will be announced in due course.

Queen Woo

Jeon Jong-seo (Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area, Bargain) stars in this period drama as Queen Woo Hee, the wife of King Ko Nam Moo, Korea’s Goguryeo region’s ninth King. Upon his death, a fierce battle erupts between all the tribes owned by the late King’s brothers, and in their efforts to inherit the throne, a chase to marry one of the King’s brothers ensues. Meanwhile, Queen Woo sets out to fight those who would take the throne from her and to find herself a new husband to protect her family and tribe. And she does, by marrying one of her brothers-in-law — thereby becoming the first woman in history to become queen twice.

Produced by ANDMARQ Studio, Compass Pictures, and CJ ENM Studio, the series is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution outside of South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan. The premiere date for Queen Woo will be announced in due course.

In addition to these titles, Paramount+’s announcement also includes news about two series from the UK: The Gold and Sexy Beast. You can read about them on The British TV Place.
