Apple TV+ announced today the premiere date for the highly-anticipated new comedy series Palm Royale, starring Kristen Wiig.
Emmy® and Academy Award® nominee Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids, The Skeleton Twins, Saturday Night Live) leads a renowned ensemble cast for Palm Royale, including Oscar® winners Laura Dern (Marriage Story) and Allison Janney (I, Tonya), Ricky Martin (Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey), Josh Lucas (The Firm), Leslie Bibb (American Housewife), Amber Chardae Robinson (Judas and the Black Messiah), Mindy Cohn (The Facts of Life), Julia Duffy (Newhart), and Kaia Gerber (American Horror Story), along with extra special guest star turns by the legendary Bruce Dern (Nebraska) and the iconic, multiple-award-winning Carol Burnett (The Carol Burnett Show).
Loosely based on the novel Mr. and Mrs. American Pie by Juliet McDaniel, and set in Palm Beach during the powder keg year of 1969, Palm Royale follows Maxine Simmons (Kristen Wiig) as she endeavors to break into Palm Beach high society and secure her seat at America’s most exclusive table. As Maxine attempts to cross that impermeable line between the haves and the have-nots, the series asks the same questions that still baffle us today: Who gets a seat at the table? How do you get there? And how much of yourself are you willing to sacrifice to get what someone else has?
A true underdog story, Palm Royale is a testament to every outsider fighting for their chance to truly belong.
Produced for Apple TV+ by Apple Studios, the ten-episode series is written, executive produced, and showrun by Abe Sylvia (Nurse Jackie) for Aunt Sylvia’s Moving Picture Company, executive produced by Laura Dern and Jayme Lemons for Jaywalker Pictures, Kristen Wiig, Katie O’Connell Marsh, Tate Taylor and John Norris for Wyolah Films, Sharr White, Sheri Holman, and Boat Rocker. The series is directed by Taylor, Sylvia, Claire Scanlon and Stephanie Laing.
Palm Royale, an Apple Original comedy, premieres globally with three episodes on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, exclusively on Apple TV+. New episodes will be released every Wednesday through May 8.
