From the basement bars of ’70s New York City to the peak of the global charts, along with iconic tracks and remarkable footage, this three-part docuseries offers a powerful, revisionist history of the disco age.
Disco: Soundtrack of a Revolution premieres in the US in its entirety on Saturday, June 1, on PBS.org, the PBS app, and the PBS Documentaries Prime Video Channel. Lumberjack the Monster (Japan)
Kazuya Kamenashi (Destiny) stars in this crime horror thriller as Akira Ninomiya, a ruthless, psychopathic lawyer who has no qualms about taking out (permanently) whoever stands in his way. One night a masked serial killer brutally attacks Ninomiya, who survives and becomes obsessed with finding and getting revenge on his assailant. Meanwhile, the police are investigating a series of gruesome murders in which the victims’ brains were removed. Will they or Ninomiya find the attacker first?

Billy the Kid: Season 2, Part 2 (US)
Inspired by the life of legendary American outlaw Billy the Kid, this western drama’s second season follows on from the events in Season 1. In the current season, Billy (Tom Blyth, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes) and his allies square off against his oldest friend, Jesse Evans (Daniel Webber, The Punisher), and the corrupt powers of the Santa Fe Ring. When shots are fired, the conflict erupts into the bloody Lincoln County War. Amidst the fighting, Billy will struggle to hang onto his soul — and to the love of his life.

Mayor of Kingstown: Season 3 (US)
After his near-fatal accident in January 2023, Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker) returns to our screens in the highly-anticipated third season of this prison-centered crime thriller. A series of explosions rocks Kingstown and its citizens, as a new face of the Russian mob sets up shop in the city, and a drug war rages inside and outside prison walls. The pressure is on “Mayor” Mike McLusky (Renner) to end the war, but things get complicated when a familiar face from his prison past threatens to undermine his attempts to keep the peace among all factions.

The Real Red Tails (US)
Narrated by Sheryl Lee Ralph (Abbott Elementary), this documentary tells of the astonishing discovery of a P-39 airplane in Lake Huron, Michigan, reigniting a story lost to time and triggering one of the most important WW2 archeological missions in the Great Lakes. On the morning of April 11, 1944, Second Lieutenant Frank Moody, a 22-year-old Tuskegee pilot, perished in what should have been a routine training mission when his plane malfunctioned and took a nosedive into the chilly waters. This hour-long special enlists teams of underwater archaeologists to recover parts of the downed plane for the first time and weaves in firsthand accounts from fellow airmen, along with underwater footage from the wreck, to give a final answer to the 80-year-old mystery of how and why Moody’s plane went down.
The Real Red Tails premieres in the US on Monday, June 3, at 8pm ET, on National Geographic, with streaming on Disney+ and Hulu starting Tuesday, June 4.

Clipped (US)
Based on “The Sterling Affairs” story on ESPN’s 30 for 30 Podcasts program, this limited series takes viewers behind the scenes of the racist remarks made by notorious NBA owner Donald Sterling (Ed O’Neill, Modern Family), captured on a tape heard around the world. The show charts the collision between the dysfunctional L.A. Lakers basketball organization and the even less functional marriage of its owner, and the tape’s impact on an ensemble of characters striving to win against the backdrop of the most cursed team in the league.

Criminal Minds: Evolution: Season 2 (Criminal Minds: Season 16) (US)
Following on from the shocking Season 1 (CM: S15) finale of this revival of Criminal Minds, Season 2 picks up as the FBI’s elite team of profilers investigates the deadly mystery of GOLD STAR. As the conspiracy unfolds, the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) is met with an unexpected complication when serial killer Elias Voit (Zach Gilford, Midnight Mass) negotiates a deal that transfers him to federal custody in the BAU’s own backyard. Sweet Tooth: Season 3 (US)
Based on the “Sweet Tooth” DC comic book series by Jeff Lemire, the third and final season of this popular, award-winning fantasy drama series follows on from the events in Season 2. After the defeat of General Abbot in the battle at Pubba’s Cabin, human-deer hybrid Gus (Christian Convery, One Piece), Jepperd (Nonso Anozie, Zoo), Becky (Stefania LaVie Owen, Chance), and Wendy (Naledi Murray, The Undoing) embark on a journey to Alaska in search of Gus’s mother, Birdie (Amy Seimetz, Get Shorty), who has been working to uncover the mysterious origins of the deadly Sick. With Elite vibes, this new K-drama is set at Jooshin High School, the most prestigious school in South Korea. Based on Scott Turow’s New York Times best-selling novel Presumed Innocent, the first title in his “Kindle County” legal thrillers, this eight-part limited series takes viewers on a journey through the horrific murder that upends the Chicago Prosecuting Attorney’s office when one of its own is suspected of a crime. The show explores obsession, sex, politics, and the power and limits of love, as the accused fights to hold his family and marriage together.

The Boys: Season 4 (US)
Based on The Boys, The New York Times best-selling comic by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, this satirical superhero series returns to find the world on the brink. Brats (US)
Inspired by actor Andrew McCarthy’s (Pretty in Pink) New York Times best-selling memoir Brat: An ’80s Story, this ABC News Documentary, written and directed by McCarthy, explores the cultural phenomenon of films such as St. Elmo’s Fire and The Breakfast Club, which tapped into teenage angst and connected with young audiences in a way that had never been done before. The films earned a cult-like following, but the “Brat Pack” label would impact the young actors’ careers in unexpected ways for decades to come.
In the film, McCarthy goes right to the source, reuniting with his fellow Brat-Packers Demi Moore, Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez, and Ally Sheedy, amongst others — friends, colleagues, and former foes, many of whom he had not seen for over 30 years — to answer the question: What did it mean to be part of the Brat Pack?

The Dirty D: Season 3 (US)
“What happens in the Dirty D stays in the Dirty D.” And all kinds of dirty happen in and around the titular Detroit nightclub in this soapy, steamy adult drama (rated TV-MA) — from betrayals and incriminating videos, to murder and sex. The show has its fair share of twists, turns, and what-the-what? moments, and the ones in Season 2 set up what’s to come in Season 3, such as: Will the hostage get rescued? Will the police find the missing undercover cop? Will (no spoilers) survive being shot?
A twist regarding but not in the show is the switch from free streaming service Tubi (where the show premiered in 2022) to paid streaming service Peacock (which added the show to its offerings in 2023) for the third season.

Doctor Climax (Thailand)
Set in 1970s Thailand, this comedy-drama series revolves around Dr. Nat (Chantavit Dhanasevi, One Day), a dermatologist whose robotic, pleasure-less life is turned upside down when he begins moonlighting as a taboo-defying newspaper columnist known as “Doctor Climax.” Inspired by actual letters with questions about sex and intimacy from well-known columns of that era, the series sees him unexpectedly starting a mass sexual awakening.

Exhuma (South Korea)
This mystery-horror thriller sees a renowned shaman (Kim Go-Eun, Little Women) and her protégé (Lee Do-hyun, Sweet Home) hired by a wealthy, enigmatic family to investigate the cause of a disturbing supernatural illness that affects only the first-born child of each generation. With the help of a knowledgeable mortician (Yoo Hai-jin, A Taxi Driver) and the country’s most revered geomancer (Choi Min-sik, Big Bet), they soon trace the affliction’s origin to a long-hidden family grave located on sacred ground. Sensing an ominous aura surrounding the burial site, the team opts to exhume and relocate the ancestral remains immediately. But as something much darker emerges, they soon discover firsthand what befalls those who dare to mess with the wrong grave.

Joko Anwar’s Nightmares and Daydreams (Indonesia)
Featuring seven stories of supernatural/sci-fi phenomena, this series chronicles the journey of a group of ordinary people trying to save humanity from those who wish to take over the world. Each story spotlights a key character dealing with extraordinary events that span from 1985 to 2024. Maharaj (US-India)
This historical drama follows Karsandas Mulji (Junaid Khan), a journalist and social reformer, who was a pioneering advocate for women’s rights and social reform in 1860s India. A student at Elphinstone College in Mumbai and a protégé of the scholar-leader Dadabhai Naoroji, Mulji wrote on widow remarriage, stood up for the oppressed, and sowed the seeds of reform in society. It all came to a head for Mulji in the Maharaj Libel Case of 1862, which was ignited by his allegations of a prominent figure’s misconduct. The case garnered widespread attention and scrutiny, and set the stage for what many consider to be one of the most significant legal battles of all time. Hotel Cocaine (US)
This crime thriller tells the story of Roman Compte (Danny Pino, Cold Case), a Cuban exile and the general manager of the the Mutiny Hotel, the glamorous epicenter of the Miami cocaine scene of late ’70s and early ’80s. The Mutiny Hotel was Casablanca on cocaine: a glitzy nightclub, restaurant, and hotel frequented by Florida businessmen and politicians, international narcos, CIA and FBI agents, models, sports stars, and musicians. At the center of it all was Compte, who was doing his best to keep it all going and fulfill his own American Dream.

Inspector Rojas (Chile)
Inspired by real-life events, this crime thriller revolves around the disappearance of twelve young girls from the municipality of Alto Hospicio in the north of Chile in the late 1990s. Desperate for answers and help, their families get none from the local police, who say the girls probably left home to seek out better opportunities elsewhere, or to make money through prostitution across the border in Peru. Sent from Chile’s capital city, Santiago, to Alto Hospicio to investigate the disappearances is Inspector Rojas (Francisco Melo, Hijos del Desierto). With his new partner, Second Lieutenant Rodrigo Carrasco (Gastón Salgado, Hijos del Desierto), Rojas sets out to get to the truth.

Agents of Mystery (South Korea)

Chopper Cops (US)
This docuseries takes viewers into the cockpit of an elite Florida police team of helicopter pilots as they attack crime from the skies. To the men and women of the Marion County Sheriff’s Department, the 1,600 square-mile area that they patrol contains crime scenes to more than 7,000 felonies a year, and it’s impossible to have eyes everywhere. But they have a secret weapon: state-of-the-art helicopters manned by elite police pilots. Known as Air One, these chopper cops, who operate 24/7, are equipped with high-tech infrared cameras and augmented-reality mapping capabilities that allow police on the ground to see in the dark and locate the bad guys. As Sheriff Billy Woods’s “eye in the sky,” they detect where perpetrators are running and hiding and whether they’re armed, essentially guiding the SWAT team with vital, instantaneous information that could be the difference between life and death.
Air One’s heart-pounding stories are brought to life through in-chopper cameras, radio transmissions, and first-person interviews with law enforcement. The ten-episode series also includes footage of the elite team’s response to an officer being shot and the efforts to arrest the suspected shooter.

The Victims’ Game: Season 2 (Taiwan)
Following on from the events in Season 1, the long-awaited return of this taut crime thriller series sees Fang Yi-jen (Chang Hsiao-chuan, The Post-Truth World), a now-former forensic detective with Asperger’s syndrome, and Hsu Hai-yin (Hsu Wei-ning, Shards of Her), who switched from being an investigative journalist to managing PR for a children’s foundation, starting a new life with Fang’s daughter, Chiang Hsiao-meng (Moon Lee, Oh No! Here Comes Trouble), who works as a trauma cleaner at crime scenes. But their fresh start takes a turn for the worse when Fang becomes the prime suspect in a series of deaths that are connected to a homicide case he worked on fifteen years ago.
Overseeing the present-day case is prosecutor Chang Keng-ha (Dean Fujioka, Full Metal Alcehmist), who doubts the integrity of both Fang and his mentor, Lin Ching-jui (King Jieh-wen, Shang hun). So, to uncover the truth and prove his innocence, lest he lose his relationship with Chiang again, Fang enlists the help of Detective Chao Cheng-kuan (Wang Shih-hsien, Your Name Engraved Herein) and forensic examiner Hsueh Hsin-ning (Tarcy Su, You and Me).
