The new K-drama Hierarchy has Elite vibes, as its setting, character types, and mystery feel very similar to those of the hit series from Spain.

Jooshin High School — “the school of perfect order” — is the most prestigious school in South Korea. Established by the conglomerate Jooshin Group, this private school is governed by a rigid social hierarchy that reflects the corruption often seen in adult society, complete with the inevitable gossip, scandal, and conflict.

Ordinarily, to attend Jooshin, you had to have been chosen at birth to be one of its student. Like Jung Jae-i (Roh Jeong-Eui, Badland Hunters, Our Beloved Summer), the first daughter of the family that runs Jaeyool Group, the most popular girl in school, and the student referred to as “the queen”; Kim Ri-An (Kim Jae-Won, King the Land, Our Blues), the successor of the Jooshin Group, Jae-i’s boyfriend, and the school’s “king”; Yoon He-Ra (Ji Hye-Won, It’s Okay to Not Be Okay, Dr. Romantic), the youngest daughter of the family behind the trading company International Yoon; and Lee Woo-Jin (Lee Won-Jung, My Perfect Stranger, Extraordinary Attorney Woo), the second son of a family of powerful politicians.

Dropped into the corridors of the school, where wealth and status are everything and secrets hide behind every corner, is Kang Ha (Lee Chae-Min, Crash Course in Romance, Alchemy of Souls), a scholarship student who is transferred to Jooshin. Despite his pure and innocent smile, he is an unwanted outsider here.

Kang also shakes things up. Between him, a mysterious death, and some bold moves, secrets will come to light and cracks will start appearing in the world of Jooshin High School.

Hierarchy, a Netflix Series, premieres globally on Friday, June 7, exclusively on Netflix. (You can set a reminder for it now.)
