Netflix has revealed a few titles from Indonesia, Philippines, and Thailand that we can expect to see within the next year or so.

The announcement comes a week after Netflix premiered the 1970s-set Thai comedy-drama Doctor Climax and its first supernatural science fiction series, Joko Anwar’s Nightmares and Daydreams, from Indonesia. Here are a few more Southeast Asian titles that we can look forward to watching:

INDONESIA

Abadi Nan Jaya (WT)

In this horror film, Netflix’s first local foray into undead territory, members of a dysfunctional family in the traditional herbal medicine business find themselves at the epicenter of a horrifying zombie outbreak in a village in Indonesia.

Directed by Kimo Stamboel (Headshot), and written by Agasyah Karim (Blood Curse), Khalid Kashogi (Death Whisper), and Stamboel, it stars Eva Celia (Adriana), Mikha Tambayong (Critical Eleven), Donny Damara (The Talent Agency), Marthino Lio (The Big 4), and Dimas Anggara (The Womb). Borderless Fog

Filmed on location, this crime thriller follows Detective Sanja, who has been assigned to investigate serial murder cases along the Indonesia-Malaysia border. But to solve the case, she must confront the ghosts of her past and open a Pandora’s box that will expose society’s deeply buried secrets.

The cast includes Putri Marino (The Big 4), Yoga Pratama (Joko Anwar’s Nightmares and Daydreams), and Lukman Sardi (Photocopier). Edwin (Vengeance Is Mine, All Others Pay Cash) directs the film written by Ifan Ismail (Harlot’s Prayer) and Edwin. Borderless Fog is expected to premiere in 2024. The Shadow Strays

This action-thriller finds a 17-year-old trained assassin, code-named 13, suspended due to a sloppy mission in Japan. Her conscience is awakened after she meets Monji, an 11-year-old boy who lost his mother to a crime syndicate. When Monji is captured, 13 is hell-bent on rescuing him, setting off on a path of destruction and defying both her mentor and the Shadow, the organization that hires her.

Starring Aurora Ribero (Love Like the Falling Rain), Hanna Malasan (Ben & Jody), Kristo Immanuel (24 Hours with Gaspar), and Adipati Dolken (Why Do You Love Me), the film is written and directed by Timo Tjahjanto (May the Devil Take You). PHILIPPINES

Outside

Set on a remote Philippine farm, this psychological thriller is the story of a family that takes refuge in their ancestral home to escape an outbreak that turns the infected into the “Dead Ones.” Despite being haunted by traumatic childhood memories in the house he grew up in, Francis manages to fortify the house and keep his wife Iris and two sons safe inside. As the outside threats from the Dead Ones increase, it is Francis’s increasingly unhinged behavior that proves to be the real danger. Suddenly, their refuge becomes a prison, and Iris is forced to make a horrific choice that will change their lives forever.

THAILAND

Terror Tuesday: Extreme

This horror-thriller series offers a collection of haunting stories inspired by the Angkhan Khlumpong (Terror Tuesday) radio program, which includes terrorizing twists and turns that are dialed up to the extreme.

The cast includes Nat Kitcharit (Fast & Feel Love), Charada Imraporn (After Dark), and Sutthirak Subvijitra (4 Kings), amongst many others. Netflix gave no date or timeframe for Terror Tuesday: Extreme, but you can set a reminder for it now.

Tomorrow and I

This sci-fi anthology series explores the intersection of futuristic technologies and Thai culture, and the unimaginable tensions and moral dilemmas that arise out of their inevitable conflict.

The four-episode series stars Ray Macdonald (Ameen), Aelm Thavornsiri (Hunger), Pongsatorn Jongwilas (VIP), Pakorn Chatborirak (Lipgloss Spy), Waruntorn Paonil (Snap), Treechada Hongsyok, Violette Wautier (Blackout), Chananticha Chaipa (The Creator), and Wanichaya Pornpanarittichai.
