Netflix has set the global premiere date for the third and final season of the hit Korean fantasy-horror series Sweet Home.
For fans of Sweet Home, the highly-anticipated premiere of Season 3 is massively welcome news, but also bittersweet, as the new season is also the show’s last. Since Netflix launched Sweet Home in December 2020, this hit apocalyptic fantasy-horror drama has won legions of fans worldwide, landing it in the Netflix Global Top 10 TV (Non-English) list and earning it the distinction of being the first Korean series to crack the list.
If the show is new to you, here’s a quick, spoiler-free recap:
Cha Hyun-su (Song Kang, My Demon, Nevertheless, Navillera) moves from his family’s home into the run-down Green Home apartment complex after everyone in his family is killed in a tragedy. When monsters arrive and start destroying the city, Hyun-su and other residents join together in a fight for survival against the creatures. But then some amongst them, including Hyun-su, get infected and start to exhibit monster-like symptoms and gain the ability to transform themselves at will into the monster of their choice. With resources within the complex dwindling, venturing beyond its walls to the outside becomes a necessity, as does finding new places to shelter while other beings and mysterious phenomena begin to emerge. Meanwhile, government agencies, the military, and science labs try to protect the populace, study the monsters, and find a cure while protecting themselves and their own.
Which brings us to the final season, in which the line between monster and human continues to blur as humanity grapples with the emergence of a race of neohumans in a world on the brink of annihilation.
