Apple Original Films has set the premiere dates for the global theatrical and streaming releases of The Instigators, starring Matt Damon and Casey Affleck. Check out the trailer.
Academy Award® winners Matt Damon (Good Will Hunting, The Martian) and Casey Affleck (Manchester by the Sea, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford) star in the action-crime comedy film The Instigators as reluctant partners Rory and Cobby, respectively. One’s a desperate father, the other’s an ex-con, both are thrown together to rob a corrupt politician’s ill-gained earnings.
But when the heist goes wrong, the two find themselves engulfed in a whirlwind of chaos, pursued not only by police but also backward bureaucrats and vengeful crime bosses. Completely out of their depth, they convince Rory’s therapist (Oscar® nominee Hong Chau, The Whale) to join their riotous getaway through the city, where they must put aside their differences and work together to evade capture — or worse.
The Instigators, an Apple Original Film, makes its global debut in select theaters on Friday, August 2, before its global streaming premiere a week later, on Friday, August 9, exclusively on Apple TV+.
The film costars Michael Stuhlbarg (Dopesick), Paul Walter Hauser (Black Bird), Ving Rhames (Don King: Only in America), Alfred Molina (Feud), and Toby Jones (Mr Bates vs. The Post Office), with Jack Harlow (Dave) and Ron Perlman (Sons of Anarchy).
A production of Artists Equity, Studio 8, and The Walsh Company, The Instigators is directed by Doug Liman, written by Chuck MacLean and Casey Affleck, and produced by Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Jeff Robinov, John Graham, Kevin J.
