Young. Wild. Free. stars Algee Smith (Euphoria, Judas and the Black Messiah, The Hate U Give) as Brandon, a hot-tempered high school senior who, while struggling in school and caring for his two younger siblings, has just been let go from his job. Who needs adulting when stuff like this is happening already?

Then Brandon, who often uses his art as an escape from the confines of his mundane, day-to-day life, is robbed at gunpoint by the girl of his dreams — suddenly propelling his life in an enticing, albeit dangerous, direction.

Her name is Cassidy (Sierra Capri, On My Block, American Skin), a bedazzled bad girl dripping in confidence, freedom, and danger. Lured in by her whimsy, Brandon teams up with Cassidy, seamlessly slipping into the role of Clyde to her Bonnie as they make their way down an increasingly perilous path.

Young. Wild. Free., a BET+ Original Film, premieres in the US on Thursday, June 27, exclusively on BET+ and its digital channels, including BET+ on Prime Channels.

Costars include Sanaa Lathan (Succession) and Mike Epps (The Upshaws), amongst others.

Directed by Thembi L. Banks (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), the film’s screenplay is by Juel Taylor (They Cloned Tyrone) and Thembi L. Banks, from a story by Tony Rettenmaier (They Cloned Tyrone) and Juel Taylor.

A production of MACRO Film Studios, Confluential Films, and No Label Productions, Young. Wild. Free. is produced by Charles D. King, James Lopez, Poppy Hanks, Tommy Oliver, Baron Davis, and Tracy “Twinkie” Byrd. The executive producers are Codie Elaine Oliver, Charlotte Koh, Prince Baggett, Jo Henriquez, Mark R.
