Paramount+ with Showtime has released first-look images for the highly-anticipated Dexter prequel series, Dexter: Original Sin.
Taking place fifteen years before the start of the original Dexter series, Dexter: Original Sin chronicles America’s favorite serial killer… in training.
Starring as the iconic Morgan family are Patrick Gibson (Before We Die, Shadow and Bone, The OA) as the titular Dexter Morgan; Golden Globe winner Christian Slater (Mr. Robot, Dr. Death, Breaking In) as Harry Morgan, Dexter’s adoptive father and a homicide detective; and Molly Brown (Evil, Billions, Chicago Med) as Dexter’s younger sister, Debra Morgan.
Set in 1991 Miami, the new ten-episode thriller follows Dexter as he transitions from student to avenging serial killer. When his bloodthirsty urges can’t be ignored any longer, Dexter must learn to channel his inner darkness. With the guidance of his father, Harry, he adopts a Code designed to help him find and kill people who deserve to be eliminated from society without getting on law enforcement’s radar. This is a particular challenge for young Dexter as he begins a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.
Additional cast for Dexter: Original Sin includes Golden Globe nominee Patrick Dempsey (Grey’s Anatomy) as Aaron Spencer, James Martinez (Love, Victor) as Angel Batista, Christina Milian (The Oath) as Maria LaGuerta, Alex Shimizu(The Terror) as Vince Masuka, Reno Wilson (Mike & Molly) as Bobby Watt, and special guest star, Emmy® winner Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), as Tanya Martin.
A production of Showtime Studios and Counterpart Studios, the series is showrun and executive produced by Clyde Phillips (Nurse Jackie), who did both duties on the original Dexter. Executive producers also include Scott Reynolds (Jessica Jones), Michael C. Hall (Dexter), Mary Leah Sutton (Resident Evil), Tony Hernandez (Emily In Paris), and Lilly Burns (Russian Doll), with Robert Lloyd Lewis (The Lincoln Lawyer) producing. Michael Lehmann (Heathers) serves as directing executive producer.
