Netflix has announced the global premiere date for GG Precinct, a spinoff series of the hit Taiwanese film Marry My Dead Body.
Before I get to GG Precinct, here’s a quick recap of the supernatural crime comedy Marry My Dead Body. In the film, the crude, cocky, homophobic, and ghost-fearing Taiwanese detective, Wu Ming-Han (Greg Han Hsu, Nowhere Man), is collecting evidence for a case when he inadvertently picks up a red envelope. Because of this, he is forced to marry Mao Pang-Yu, aka Mao Mao (Austin Lin, Hospital), a gay man who died under mysterious circumstances. If Ming-Han is going to live a normal life again, he and Mao Mao must work through their differences and join forces to find who murdered Mao Mao and get justice for him.
Following the events in the film, murder mystery comedy series GG Precinct finds Ming-han and his trusty sidekick, Chubby (Ten-Tso Chen, The Village of No Return), back at the police precinct, where their boss, Chang Yung-kang (Ma Nien-hsien, The Victims’ Game), has been promoted to precinct chief. Also promoted is the double-crossing officer, Lin Tzu-ching (Gingle Wang, Wave Makers). Details about the six-episode series’ plot have not been revealed — only that the cops will engage in mind-boggling and side-splitting crime investigations.
GG Precinct, a Netflix Series, premieres globally on Thursday, August 22, exclusively on Netflix. (You can set a reminder for it now.)
