Netflix has announced the start of filming on Pssica, a new action drama miniseries from Brazil.
Based on the novel Pssica by Edyr Augusto, Netflix’s new Original Brazilian miniseries Pssica centers on three people whose lives become intertwined when they meet on the Atlantic side of the Amazon in the north of Brazil: Janalice (Domithila Catete), a victim of human trafficking; Preá (Lucas Galvino, Mar do Sertão), the leader of a local crime gang known as the “water rats”; and Mariangel (Marleyda Soto, The Pack), a woman who is out to avenge the deaths of her family. All three believe a curse, or pssica, has been cast on them and they are desperate to break it.
Costars include Ademara Barros, Bruno Goya (New Bandits), Claudio Jaborandy (The Hijacking of Flight 375), Luca Dan, Ricardo Teodoro (Baby), Sandro Guerra (Property), Welket Bungué (Crimes of the Future), and Wesley Guimarães (You’re Sick).
Directed by Quico and Fernando Meirelles, and written by Bráulio Mantovani, Fernando Garrido and Stephanie Degreas, the miniseries is produced for O2 Filmes by Andrea Barata Ribeiro and Fernando Meirelles.
A premiere date has not been set yet. Stay tuned for updates.
