Netflix released today the official trailer for A Man on the Inside, a new crime comedy series starring Ted Danson and arriving on the streaming service next month. Check it out.
From the looks of the trailer, A Man on the Inside should be very entertaining. I’m looking forward to it and I’ve already set a reminder for it.
Based on the The Mole Agent, a 2021 Oscar® nominee for Best Documentary feature (which is currently available for streaming on Netflix), this new crime comedy series stars Ted Danson (The Good Place, Cheers) as Charles, a retired professor who’s become stuck in his routine and grown distant from his daughter, Emily (Mary Elizabeth Ellis, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), following the death of his wife. But when he spies an intriguing classified ad, he’s inspired to roll the dice on a new adventure.
So begins Charles’s new lease on life. After he answers the ad from, and is hired by, private investigator Julie (Lilah Richcreek Estrada, Chicago Med), he sets about his new gig: going undercover as a new resident at the Pacific View Retirement Home in San Francisco to solve the mystery of a stolen family heirloom.
With residents and staff all being potential suspects, Charles must keep a low profile while trying to find out who stole the heirloom, and especially to prevent Didi (Stephanie Beatriz, Brooklyn Nine-Nine), the all-seeing, all-knowing director of Pacific View, from discovering what he’s up to. Except he doesn’t, rather he can’t, as Charles’s affability quickly endears him to folks at the senior living community. Ultimately, his being “a man on the inside” makes him realize that there is a lot more life left to be had, and allows him to reconnect with Emily in the process.
The cast also includes Margaret Avery (The Color Purple), Lori Tan Chinn (Joy Ride), Eugene Cordero (Loki), John Getz (Transparent), Stephen McKinley Henderson (Fences), Marc Evan Jackson (Lessons in Chemistry), Clyde Kusatsu (Young Rock), Susan Ruttan (L.A. Law), Sally Struthers (All in the Family), and Jama Williamson (The Good Place).
