Acorn TV announced today the premiere date for Season 2 of Recipes for Love and Murder, a culinary mystery series from South Africa starring Maria Doyle Kennedy.
Based on the best-selling “Tannie Maria Mystery” novels by Sally Andrew, Recipes for Love and Murder stars Maria Doyle Kennedy (Outlander, The Tudors) as Tannie Maria (“Auntie Maria” in Afrikaans), a newspaper recipe advice columnist who offers guidance and counsel and also helps investigate crimes in her small town in the vibrant, beautiful region of the Karoo in South Africa.
In Season 2, a massive fire engulfs the small town of Eden, triggering a fateful chain of events and dragging Tannie Maria (Doyle Kennedy), journalist Jessie September (Kylie Fisher, Fraksie), and Chief Detective Khaya Meyer (Tony Kgoroge, Invictus) into a multiple murder investigation that unearths the town’s darkest secrets.
Recipes for Love and Murder: Season 2, an Acorn TV Original Series, premieres in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand with two episodes on March 3, exclusively on Acorn TV and, where available, the streamer’s digital channels, including Acorn TV on Prime Channels. New episodes will drop weekly through April 14.
Joining the regular cast in Season 2 are Wynand Ferreira (Moffie, Mooiweer en Warm, Wyfie) as Jaco, Warrant Officer Regardt Snyman’s (Arno Greeff) intense younger brother; Gerard Rudolph (Donkerland, Devils Peak) as Ricus, a trained psychologist turned mechanic; and Hlubi Mboya (Blood Psalms, I Am All Girls) as Jackie Baloyi, the new undertaker following the passing of Hattie’s husband.
The series is directed by Jozua Malherbe and Karen Jeynes and produced by Thierry Cassuto in a partnership between AMC Networks’ Acorn TV, Multichoice, and Both Worlds Pictures, in cooperation with Global Screen. Acorn TV holds distribution rights to the series for the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand, with Multichoice holding the rights for Africa, and Global Screen selling to the rest of the world.
