Never has there been a television series that began as a crowd-funded project and grown into a veritable global phenomenon — an award-winning, worldwide hit with 280 million viewers and counting, and more than 17 million followers on social media.
Until The Chosen.
If you’ve not heard of it, The Chosen is a historical drama set in first-century Israel that is based on the life of Jesus, as seen through the eyes of those who knew him. It has been created as a seven-season series that shares an authentic and intimate look at Jesus’s revolutionary life and teachings. Leading the cast of the series is Jonathan Roumie as Jesus.
The first four seasons of The Chosen have been released, all of which are currently available to stream for free on Prime Video and The Chosen mobile and smart TV apps.
In the show’s highly-anticipated fifth season — titled The Chosen: Last Supper — the people of Israel welcome Jesus as king while his disciples anticipate his crowning. However, instead of confronting Rome, he turns the tables on the Jewish religious festival. With their power threatened, the country’s religious and political leaders will go to any length to ensure that this Passover meal is Jesus’s last.
Here are a couple of sneak-peak videos from Season 5.
The Chosen: Last Supper will be released in theaters in three parts during a four-week run in the U.S. and Canada — Part One (Episodes 1-2) on March 28, Part Two (#Episodes 3, 4, 5) on April 4, and Part Three (Episodes 6, 7, 8) on April 11 — the weeks leading up to Good Friday on April 18 and Easter Sunday on April 20.
Internationally, Part One of The Chosen: Last Supper will also roll out theatrically in more than 40 territories across Europe, Asia, and Africa starting April 10. (There are no details about Parts Two and Three yet.)
Tickets for all territories are available now at https://www.thechosenlastsupper.com.
If attending stars-filled premieres is your thing, then make plans to be in Dallas, Texas, on March 20, when the show’s producers and cast will be in attendance at the red-carpet premiere of The Chosen: Last Supper at B&B Theatres Red Oak 12. Other red-carpet premiere events will take place in Brazil, Spain, and Mexico, as well.
A production of 5&2 Studios, The Chosen is created, written, directed, and executive produced by Dallas Jenkins. The series is distributed by Fathom Entertainment in the U.S. and by Trafalgar Releasing internationally.
The Chosen: Last Supper will have its streaming debut later in 2025. Stay tuned for updates.
