Apple TV+ has dropped the official trailer for Murderbot, the new comedic sci-fi thriller series starring Alexander Skarsgård. Check it out.
Emmy® Award winner Alexander Skarsgård (Succession, Big Little Lies, The Northman) stars as the titular character in Murderbot, which is based on “The Murderbot Diaries,” the best-selling, Hugo- and Nebula Award-winning book series by Martha Wells.
Murderbot is a self-hacking security construct that is horrified by human emotion yet drawn to its vulnerable clients. It must hide its free will and complete a dangerous assignment when all it really wants is to be left alone to watch futuristic soap operas and figure out its place in the universe.
Murderbot premieres globally with the first two episodes on Friday, May 16, exclusively on Apple TV+. New episodes will drop every Friday through July 11.
The ten-episode series’ ensemble cast also includes Noma Dumezweni (Presumed Innocent), David Dastmalchian (Late Night with the Devil), Sabrina Wu (Joy Ride), Akshay Khanna (Critical Incident), Tattiawna Jones (The Handmaid’s Tale), and Tamara Podemski (Outer Range).
A production of Paramount Television Studios, Murderbot is written, directed, and produced by Academy Award® nominees Chris and Paul Weitz (About a Boy, Mozart in the Jungle) under their Depth of Field banner. Andrew Miano also executive produces alongside them for Depth of Field. David S. Goyer executive produces alongside Keith Levine for Phantom Four. Martha Wells serves as consulting producer.
