Netflix has dropped the official trailer for Caramelo, a new comedy-drama film from Brazil launching next month. Check it out.

From pet videos on Facebook and Instagram to Tik Tok and YouTube, animal cuteness is everywhere, which gives social media-ized folks a chance to go “awww” and “omg, how cute!” and lets me reminisce about my years as a (now-former) mama to two cats and a dog. But can there ever be too much pet cuteness? I think not.
And neither do the folks behind the new film Caramelo, so named for a type of caramel-colored mutt that is typical in Brazil.
In this heartwarming dramedy, Pedro (Rafael Vitti, Rock Story), a promising chef, is about to fulfill his dream of running a restaurant when he encounters a cute and feisty caramelo. But then he gets an unexpected and life-altering medical diagnosis, and his world is turned upside down. With the help of his new canine bud, Caramelo (Amendoim), Pedro embarks on a journey of rediscovery and connection, finding meaning and inspiration in the present — as well as in his lifelong bond and friendship with his fur-midable pooch.
Caramelo, a Netflix Film, premieres globally on Wednesday, October 8, exclusively on Netflix. (You can set a reminder for it now.)
Costars include Arianne Botelho (Just Another Christmas), Noemia Oliveira (Christmas Full of Grace), Ademara (Rivers of Fate), Kelzy Ecard (All the Flowers), Bruno Vinicius (Turma da Mônica Jovem: Reflexos do Medo), Roger Gobeth (Flames of Life), and Olívia Araújo (Crashing Into the Future), along with Cristina Pereira (Eleita), Carolina Ferraz (Burning Hearts), and Chef Paola Carosella, who makes a guest appearance.
A production of Migdal Filmes, Caramelo is directed by Diego Freitas (Beyond the Universe), and written by Diego Freitas (original idea), Rod Azevedo, and Vitor Brandt, in collaboration with Carolina Castro and with Marcelo Saback’s consulting.
