North American streaming service MHz Choice has set the premiere date for Lex Africana, a French-Senegalese thriller series.

To my knowledge, we haven’t had any television series set in Senegal available on streaming in the US, if not ever then certainly not in a while. That’s set to change soon with the arrival of the thriller miniseries Lex Africana, which is set in Dakar, the capital of Senegal, and stars Seydina Baldé (Murder in Blois, They Were Ten, ZeroZeroZero) in the lead role.
The six-episode action drama follows Gabriel Thiam (Baldé), an architect who spent a long time in Asia training to be, and becoming, a martial arts expert. But his return to Dakar is not a happy occasion. His politician father, Lamine, died suddenly, and Gabriel has come home for the funeral. Convinced that his father’s death was no accident, Gabriel embarks on his own intense investigation to find the killer and mete out his own special brand of justice. His digging leads him to the nefarious activities of the UWK, a notorious and powerful criminal organization.
If there is anything good in all of this, it’s that Gabriel isn’t alone in his quest for truth and justice. He has found unwavering support from several allies, including Racine (Eriq Ebouane, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, Liaison), the chancellor of the African Confederation; Lika (Aicha Ba, Salma, Manjak), a brilliant Senegalese lawyer and his lost first love; and Lauren (Maud Baecker, Camilla Läckberg’s Erica, Love and Trouble in Paris), a captivating humanitarian doctor who awakens new passions within him.
Costars in the series include Richard Samme (A French Village, Pale Mountains), Mark Grosy (Master Crimes, Deadly Tropics), and Serge Crozon-Cazin (The Gray House).
Lex Africana premieres in the US and Canada on Tuesday, May 5, exclusively on MHz Choice and its digital channels, including MHz Choice on Prime Channels.
