Prime Video has announced that the new live-action Japanese action-crime drama series Like a Dragon: Yakuza will premiere globally this year, the year of the dragon.

It and the back that it was inked on belongs to Kazuma Kiryu, a legendary, fearsome, and peerless Yakuza warrior with a strong sense of justice, duty, and humanity — played by Ryoma Takeuchi (“Kamen Rider” films) in Amazon’s new Japanese Original series, Like a Dragon: Yakuza.

Like a Dragon: Yakuza is a live-action, crime-suspense-action series based on SEGA’s global hit game franchise, Yakuza: Like a Dragon. The series’ original story is set in the dual time periods of 1995 and 2005, and tells the dramatic stories of fierce yet passionate gangsters and people living in the huge entertainment district of Kamurochō, a fictional district in modern-day Japan modeled after the violent Shinjuku ward’s Kabukichō, which serves as the backdrop of the gameplay in Yakuza.

Like a Dragon: Yakuza, an Amazon Original series, premieres globally with three episodes on Friday, October 25, exclusively on Prime Video, followed by the the season’s last three episodes on Friday, November 1.

The six-episode series is directed by Masaharu Take (The Naked Director) and Kengo Takimoto (Sawako: It’s Endless Revenge), and executive produced By Erik Barmack, Roberto Grande, and Joshua Long.
