CBS has set the premiere date for Watson, a new Sherlock Holmes-inspired medical mystery drama series starring Morris Chestnut.
Award-winning actor Morris Chestnut (All American, The Best Man: The Final Chapters, The Resident, Rosewood) stars in Watson, a new medical drama series with a strong investigative spine. The show follows the titular character, Dr. John Watson, a modern version of one of history’s greatest detectives, as he turns his attention from solving crimes to solving medical mysteries.
Opening a year after the death of his friend and partner, Sherlock Holmes, at the hands of Moriarty, the show sees Watson (Chestnut) resume his medical career as the head of a clinic dedicated to treating rare disorders. His old life isn’t done with him, though; he and Moriarty are set to write their own chapter of a story that has fascinated audiences for more than a century.
Watson premieres Sunday, January 26, 2025, at approximately 10pm ET/7pm PT, on CBS, after the AFC Championship Game and post-game coverage, with streaming available on Paramount+*. The series will begin airing in its regular 10pm ET/PT time slot starting Sunday, February 16.
The cast also includes Eve Harlow (Star Trek: Discovery, The Night Agent), Peter Mark Kendall (Strange Angel, Chicago Med), Ritchie Coster (Tulsa King, The Walking Dead), Inga Schlingmann (So Help Me Todd, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit), and Rochelle Aytes (S.W.A.T., Criminal Minds).
Watson is produced by CBS Studios. Craig Sweeny (Elementary, Star Trek: Section 31) wrote the premiere episode and serves as showrunner and executive producer. Additional executive producers include Morris Chestnut; Sallie Patrick; Larry Teng (Criminal Minds, Hawaii Five-O), who directed the first two episodes; Shäron Moalem MD, PhD; Aaron Kaplan for Kapital Entertainment; and Brian Morewitz. The series is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
* Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers will have access to stream live via the live feed of their local CBS affiliate on the service, as well as on-demand. Paramount+ Essential subscribers will not have the option to stream live, but will have access to on-demand the day after the episode airs.
