The Leaking Bookstore (Taiwan)
Set in a world where reality blurs with the pages of a “Sherlock Holmes” novel, this mystery-crime drama series follows two people who become inextricably linked by a murder. Gao Chen Wei (Wes Lo, Born for the Spotlight) is the owner of a bookstore that specializes in crime and thriller novels. As a die-hard lover of the genres, as well as an aspiring author and amateur detective, he spends his free time trying to solve cold cases with his best friends, publishing his latest crime stories online, and trying to win a prestigious writing contest.
Meanwhile, Administrative Prosecutor Lin Mu Qing (Moon Lee, The Victims’ Game) is assigned to a suicide case, only she finds the crime scene more than a little unusual. Realizing that this case eerily mirrors scenes of a crime from literature, she quickly deduces that the suicide is actually a cunningly-executed homicide. So, she follows the clues, which lead her directly to Chen Wei, whom she promptly arrests and charges with murder.
Little did Chen Wei anticipate that his literary aspirations would intertwine with a real-life murder investigation, and he vehemently proclaims his innocence. But as Mu Qing dives deeper into the case, a web of seemingly unrelated events begins to cast suspicion on not just Chen Wei, but his detective club friends, as well, including Zhong (River Huang, Copycat Killer), a psychologist; Wen (Wanting Chen, Bonus Trip), a social worker; and Zhang (Ying-Tung Lin, Quantum Beyond), a pharmacist — each of whom is harboring their own secrets. The more clues Mu Qing follows, the more guilty they appear to be.
