MHz Choice has announced the North American premiere date for Season 2 of the taut South African thriller series, Lioness.

Shannon Esra (Do Your Worst, The River, Legacy) will soon be back on our screens in Season 2 of Lioness, playing Samantha “Sam” Hugo, a role that won her the Best Actress – TV Drama award winner at the 2024 South African Film and Television Awards.
The events in Season 2 follow those in Season 1, so here’s a quick overview of the first season:
When we meet Sam, she’s the wife of Adrian (Jacques Bessenger, Warrior), a principal in an investment company, and the mother of their three children. On one fateful evening, Sam loses all of them and her freedom when she is framed for fraud and thrown behind bars — when it was actually her husband who committed the crime before his disappearance and death. Eight years later, Sam is released from prison and attempts to reunite with her children, but the feeling isn’t mutual. Then she discovers something that sends her reeling once again: Her husband is still alive. (Video is from Season 1)
Opening eighteen months after the Season 1 finale, Season 2 finds Sam and her three children facing more danger, forcing her to operate outside the law in order to protect them and herself from the fallout of the past.
Lioness: Season 2 premieres in the US and Canada on Tuesday, May 13, exclusively on MHz Choice and its digital channels, including MHz Choice on Prime Channels.
The cast includes Jazzara Jaslyn (Warrior), Joshua Eady (The Kissing Booth), Avianah Abrahams (Black Beauty), Evan Hengst (Recipes for Love and Murder), Carla Classen (Hartklop), Terrence Ngwila (The Wife), Ilana Cilliers (Binnelanders), Natasha Sutherland (Binnelanders), Frank Rautenbach (Warrior), and Gerald Steyn (Reyka), amongst others.
