Apple TV+ has announced that it has landed a riveting new series starring Liev Schreiber, Zazie Beetz, and Stephen Graham.
Tony Award winner and Emmy® and Golden Globe® Award nominee Liev Schreiber (The Perfect Couple, Ray Donovan), Emmy® Award nominee Zazie Beetz (Atlanta, Deadpool 2), and SAG Award winner Stephen Graham (Adolescence, Boardwalk Empire) lead the cast of the as-yet untitled series, which is based on the internationally best-selling “Killer Instinct” (#ad) (aka “Joona Linna”) crime thriller novels by Lars Kepler, which have been translated into 40 languages and distributed in over 170 territories.
The 10-episode drama tells the story of Jonah Lynn (Schreiber), an ex-soldier-turned-homicide detective, who, tired of working the tough streets of Philadelphia, moves to a small town in Western Pennsylvania for a quiet life. But, as the town and his family come under attack from the diabolically cunning serial killer Jurek Walter (Graham), Jonah must protect all that he holds dear. When the desperate search for Jurek’s last missing victim forces Jonah to send his adopted daughter, FBI Agent Saga Bauer (Beetz), up against Jurek, how far will Jonah go?
Written, executive produced, and showrun by BAFTA Award winner Rowan Joffe (Tin Star, The Ballad of a Small Player) and John Hlavin (Shooter, The Man Who Fell to Earth), the series is executive produced by Liev Schreiber, Zazie Beetz (via her Sleepy Poppy production company), author Lars Kepler (the writing team of Alexandra Coelho Ahndoril and Alexander Ahndoril), Øystein Karlsen, David Rysdahl, Dorothy Fortenberry, and Niclas Salomonsson, with Emmy®, Peabody, and Directors Guild of America award winner Tim Van Patten (Franklin, Masters of the Air, Black Mirror) set to executive produce and direct the first two episodes. Julie Herrin serves as co-executive producer.
A project of A+E Studios in association with Range Studios, the series is set to begin filing this summer in Pittsburgh. Stay tuned for updates.
