NBC has announced the premiere date for The Rockford Files, a contemporary update of the classic crime drama series. Check out the video!

Based on the classic series of the same name that starred James Garner, this updated version of The Rockford Files stars David Boreanaz (SEAL Team, Bones) as Jim Rockford.
Newly paroled after doing time for a crime he didn’t commit, Rockford returns to his life as a private investigator, using his charm and wit to solve cases around Los Angeles. It doesn’t take long for his quest for legitimacy to land him squarely in the crosshairs of both the local police and organized crime.
The premiere episode of The Rockford Files will air on Saturday, January 2, 2027, at 8pm ET/5pm PT, on NBC, immediately following NBC’s NFL telecast (teams to be determined), with streaming available the next day on Peacock. The series will debut in its regular timeslot on Thursday, January 7, at 8pm ET/PT.
Costars in the series include Michaela McManus (Aquarius), Ilfenesh Hadera (Godfather of Harlem), and Jacki Weaver (Yellowstone).
Also, fans of the original series and fans in the making of the new series can get in on a classic bit of The Rockford Files: Jim Rockford’s answering machine message, updated to voicemail. Inspired by the iconic message, The Rockford Files hotline gives fans a direct touchpoint with Jim Rockford to stay connected. Call (760) JIM-ROCK to hear a message from star David Boreanaz and sign up for text message updates from the show. The hotline is live.
A production of Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, the series is written by Mike Daniels, who executive produces with Carl Beverly, Sarah Timberman, and David Hudgins.
