It’s been a long time coming for the second season of Carnival Row, whose first season bowed in August 2019. But we now have a date we can put on the calendar for what will be the show’s final season.

Carnival Row: Season 2, an Amazon Original, premieres Friday, February 17, 2023, exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. (You can add it to your watchlist now.) Episodes of the ten-episode season will be released weekly.

For folks who aren’t familiar with the series, Carnival Row is set in a Victorian fantasy world filled with mythological immigrant creatures whose exotic homelands were invaded by the empires of man. This growing population struggles to coexist with humans — forbidden to live, love, or fly with freedom. But even in darkness, hope lives, as human detective Rycroft “Philo” Philostrate (Orlando Bloom, “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy) and refugee faerie Vignette Stonemoss (Cara Delevingne, Only Murders in the Building) rekindle a dangerous affair despite an increasingly intolerant society. Vignette harbors a secret that endangers Philo’s world during his most important case yet: a string of gruesome murders threatening the uneasy peace of the Row.

Following on from the events in the first season, Season 2 finds Philo investigating a series of grisly murders stoking social tension, as Vignette and the Black Raven plot payback for the unjust oppression inflicted by The Burgue’s human leaders, Jonah Breakspear (Arty Froushan, House of the Dragon) and Sophie Longerbane (Caroline Ford, Free Rein). Meanwhile, Vignette’s friend Tourmaline (Karla Crome, The Victim) inherits supernatural powers that threaten her fate and the future of The Row. And, after escaping The Burgue and her vengeful brother Ezra (Andrew Gower, Outlander), heiress Imogen Spurnrose (Tamzin Merchant, Salem) and her partner Agreus Astrayon (David Gyasi, Containment) encounter a radical new society which upends their plans. With humans and fae folk divided and freedom on the line, each hero will face impossible dilemmas and soul-defining tests.

Simon McBurney (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) returns as Runyan Millworthy, with Jay Ali (Daredevil) and Joanne Whalley (Tin Star) joining the cast.

Created and executive produced by Travis Beacham (Clash of the Titans) and Marc Guggenheim (DC’s Legends of Tomorrow), Carnival Row is a co-production of Amazon Studios and Legendary Television. The series is executive produced by showrunner Erik Oleson (Marvel’s Daredevil, The Man in the High Castle), Orlando Bloom, Cara Delevingne, Brad Van Arragon (Yellowjackets), Sarah Byrd (The Alienist, Strange Angel), Jim Dunn (Marvel’s Daredevil, Haven), Sam Ernst (Marvel’s Daredevil, Haven), and Wesley Strick (The Man in the High Castle).
