Prime Video has set the global premiere date for New Bandits, a new action-crime thriller from Brazil starring Allan Souza Lima.
New Bandits follows Ubaldo (Allan Souza Lima, Pantanal, Orphans of a Nation), an unhappy bank clerk in the city of São Paulo. He has no memory of his childhood, but learns that he has an inheritance and two sisters in the hinterland of Ceará: Dilvânia (Thainá Duarte, 3%, If I Close My Eyes Now), who leads a group that adores her famous deceased father, a legendary “cangaceiro” (bandit), and Dinorah (Alice Carvalho, Manu, Second Call), who is the only woman in a gang of bank robbers.
When Ubaldo arrives in town, he becomes revered for his strong resemblance to his father and is called upon to fulfill his destiny as the new “cangaceiro” and supreme leader of the gang. To do so, Ubaldo will have to face bandits, murderers, and corrupt police, and literally blow up small towns, as he embarks on his journey while desperately trying to keep his moral values in check.
With its world premiere happening at the Gramado Film Festival on August 14, New Bandits, an Amazon Original Series, premieres globally via streaming on Friday, August 18, exclusively on Prime Video. (It will be released in the US at 8pm ET. You can add it to your watchlist now.)
