Apple TV+ today released first-look photos from from Todd A. Kessler’s highly-anticipated historical drama series The New Look.
Inspired by true events and filmed exclusively in Paris, The New Look centers on fashion designers Christian Dior, Coco Chanel, and their contemporaries as they navigated the horrors of a world war and launched modern fashion.
Set against the Nazi occupation of Paris during World War II, the ten-episode drama focuses on the pivotal moment when the French capital led the world back to life through its fashion icon, Christian Dior. As Dior rises to prominence with his groundbreaking, iconic imprint of beauty and influence, Chanel’s reign as the world’s most famous fashion designer is put into jeopardy.
The interwoven saga follows the surprising stories of Dior’s contemporaries and rivals — from Chanel and Pierre Balmain, to Cristóbal Balenciaga and more — and provides a stunning view into the atelier, designs, and clothing created by Christian Dior through collaboration with the House of Dior.
The star-studded ensemble cast includes Emmy® Award winner Ben Mendelsohn (Bloodline, The Outsider) as Christian Dior; Academy Award® winner Juliette Binoche (The English Patient, Chocolat) as Coco Chanel; two-time Primetime Emmy® nominee Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones, Pistol) as Catherine Dior; two-time Oscar® nominee John Malkovich (In the Line of Fire, Places in the Heart) as Lucien Lelong; BAFTA TV Award nominee Emily Mortimer (The Pursuit of Love, Lars and the Real Girl) as Elsa Lombardi, and European Film Awards winner Claes Bang (The Square, Bad Sisters) as Hans “Spatz” von Dincklage.
The New Look premieres globally with the first three episodes on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, exclusively on Apple TV+, followed by one episode every Wednesday through April 3.
Produced by Apple Studios and DB-AK Productions, the series is written, executive produced, and directed by multi-Primetime Emmy® nominee Todd A. Kessler (Damages, The Sopranos). Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Baker also serve as executive producers.
The soundtrack for series is produced by Grammy® Award winner Jack Antonoff, and features covers of popular early-to-mid-20th century songs performed by artists including Bleachers, Florence Welch, Lana Del Rey, Matty Healy (The 1975), Beabadoobee, Nick Cave, Perfume Genius, and more.
