Prime Video has set the global premiere date for Season 2 of Outer Range, the sci-fi-ish mystery thriller series starring Josh Brolin.
Outer Range centers on Royal Abbott (Oscar® nominee Josh Brolin, “Avengers” films, Dune: Part Two, No Country for Old Men), a rancher fighting for his land and family, who discovers an unfathomable mystery at the edge of Wyoming’s wilderness.
In Season 1, as the Abbotts are coping with the disappearance of daughter-in-law Rebecca, they are pushed further to the brink when the Tillersons, the gaudy owners of the neighboring profit-driven ranch, make a play for their land. Then an untimely death in the community sets off a chain of tension-filled events, followed by seemingly small-town, soil-bound troubles coming to a head when a mysterious black void shows up in the Abbotts’ west pasture.
Season 2 finds Royal and his wife, Cecilia (Lili Taylor, Manhunt, Perry Mason), struggling to keep their family together in the aftermath of their granddaughter’s sudden disappearance. The stakes have never been higher for the Abbotts, who now face threats on multiple fronts as the mystery surrounding the enigmatic void deepens…
Outer Range: Season 2, an Amazon Original, premieres globally as a seven-episode binge on Thursday, May 16, exclusively on Prime Video.
In addition to Taylor and Brolin, who makes his directorial debut with Season 2’s penultimate episode, the cast includes Imogen Poots (I Know This Much Is True), Tamara Podemski (Reservation Dogs), Lewis Pullman (Lessons in Chemistry), Tom Pelphrey (Ozark), Noah Reid (Schitt’s Creek), Shaun Sipos (Reacher), Isabel Arraiza (The Little Things), Olive Abercrombie (The Haunting of Hill House), and Will Patton (Yellowstone).
The series is executive produced by showrunner Charles Murray (True Story, Sons of Anarchy), Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Ernest McNealey, Josh Brolin, Tony Krantz, Heather Rae, and Jon Paré.
