Netflix has announced the start of production on the new crime drama series The Gringo Hunters.
Inspired by a real-life, elite Mexican police unit that catches American fugitives on the run to Mexico, crime drama series The Gringo Hunters will delve into the goings-on of the International Liaison Unit — from the mysteries they must solve, to the challenges and intrigue faced by this type of police operation.
Featuring suspense, twists, and turns, The Gringo Hunters is based on the article “A U.S. murder suspect fled to Mexico.The Gringo Hunters were waiting.” by Kevin Sieff, published by The Washington Post. It is the first series from the partnership between Imagine Entertainment and The Washington Post.
Starring as The Gringo Hunters are Harold Torres (ZeroZeroZero), Mayra Hermosillo (Narcos: Mexico), Manuel Masalva (Narcos: Mexico), Andrew Leland Rogers (The Head of Joaquín Murrieta), Héctor Kotsifakis (Triptych), Dagoberto Gama (Harina), and Regina Nava (Pacto de Sangre). The cast also includes Sebastian Roché (1923), Gerardo Trejoluna (Thursday’s Widows), Paulina Dávila (Griselda), and José María Yazpik (Narcos: Mexico), amongst others.
The series will be directed by Adrián Grünberg (Luis Miguel: The Series), Alonso Álvarez (Snowfall), Jimena Montemayor (Señorita 89), and Natalia Beristáin (Sr. Ávila).
A production of Woo Films and Redrum in co-production with Imagine Entertainment and in association with The Washington Post, the series will be filmed in Tijuana and Mexico City.
The Gringo Hunters is slated to arrive on Netflix in 2025. Stay tuned for updates.
