Sominsai: The End of a 1000-Year-Old Festival (Japan)

This documentary takes an in-depth look at the end of Sominsai, a unique cultural festival in Japan. The festival revolves around a traditional ritual in which men wearing nothing more than loin cloths push themselves to their physical limits through a series of competitive challenges that act as purification and a form of prayer to the Buddha for a bountiful harvest and plentiful health. Watch as hundreds of men plunge into freezing water, get enveloped in smoke, and jostle through the night to battle for a sacred sewing sack that is said to bring good luck and prosperity for the coming year. The Bondsman (US)

In this new supernatural/horror action drama series, Primetime Emmy® nominee Kevin Bacon (The Following, City on a Hill) stars as Hub Halloran, a murdered bounty hunter who is literally back from the dead after being resurrected by the Devil. Back in the land of the living, his job is to trap and send back demons that have escaped from the prison of Hell. By chasing down those demons with the help (and hindrance) of his estranged family, Hub learns how his own sins got his soul condemned, which pushes him to seek a second chance at life, love, and country music.

This new medical drama follows a group of ER residents as they navigate medical crises and personal drama in Miami’s busiest Level 1 trauma center. This horror film centers on Chuck Wilson (Joe Falcone), who, after a family tragedy, moves to the town of Ashland Falls with his wife, Maria (Elizabeth Vermilyea, Evil Lives Here), and little sister, Elizabeth, to start a new life. But he quickly discovers that the town has a dark secret: The ghost of Helen Foster has terrorized residents for decades, since her suicide in the ‘40s. Finding Helen’s old home is key to ending the hauntings, but the address they have doesn’t match any of the town’s existing streets. When Chuck realizes his family might be in danger of Helen’s wrath, he takes it upon himself to locate 825 Forest Road before it’s too late.

Austin City Limits Celebrates 50 Years (US)

Co-hosted by longtime Austin City Limits supporters and Austin-based actors Jared and Genevieve Padalecki (Walker, Supernatural, Gilmore Girls), this two-hour special sees music luminaries and some of the brightest stars in Austin City Limits’ five-decade history return to the fabled ACL stage in Austin, Texas, to celebrate the show’s 50th anniversary. The all-star line-up includes Leon Bridges, Billy Strings, Gary Clark, Jr. Lyle Lovett, Shawn Colvin, Ángela Aguilar, The Avett Brothers, Indigo Girls, Rufus Wainwright, The Mavericks, and more. Inspired by the true story of Molly Kochan, this drama stars five-time Oscar® nominee Michelle Williams (The Fabelmans, My Week with Marilyn) as Molly, who, after receiving a diagnosis of Stage IV metastatic breast cancer, decides to leave her husband, Steve (Jay Duplass, Somebody, Somewhere), and begins to explore the full breadth and complexity of her sexual desires for the first time in her life. Karma (South Korea)

In this high-tension crime thriller, a fateful accident intertwines the lives of six people, whose decisions plunge them into a fate they hadn’t counted on: a relentless cycle of retribution. A nasty karmic loop. They include a man who witnesses a mysterious accident and makes an irreversible deal; a doctor who, suffering the effects of a childhood trauma, encounters the person responsible; a man who, in wanting to change his life, borrowed money from loan sharks, only to see his cryptocurrency investment collapse; a man who, despite losing his job unfairly, is asked to do something involving a large sum of money; a man who runs a successful private clinic in Gangnam; and his dangerously charming girlfriend.

Iyanu (US)

Adapted from the “Iyanu: Child of Wonder” graphic novel series by Roye Okupe, and drawing on Nigerian culture, music, and mythology, this new kid- and family-friendly animated series follows Iyanu (voiced by Serah Johnson), a brave young orphan living in the magical kingdom of Yorubaland. While studying history and ancient arts, she yearns for a normal life — until a looming threat awakens divine powers not seen since the legendary Age of Wonders. Accompanied by newfound friends Biyi (Okey Jude), Toye (Samuel Kugbiyi), and a magical leopard named Ekun, Iyanu sets out to uncover the source of this evil, unlocking her destiny along the way.

Frozen Hot Boys (Thailand)

Inspired by a true story, this coming-of-age dramedy follows Jab (Nuttawat Thanataviepraserth), the most notorious troublemaker at a juvenile detention center, who is unexpectedly chosen as the captain of a snow sculpture team and finds himself under the watchful eye of Kru Chom (Natapohn Tameeruks, Kissed by the Rain), a devious teacher with a hidden agenda. Despite coming from a country where snow has never fallen, Jab and his team of hot-blooded delinquents are set on winning an international snow sculpting competition in Japan.

The idea seems impossible and the road ahead is tough, as they must endure grueling training, withstand ridicule, and overcome conflicts within their own team. That their parents offer little support adds to the challenge. But this might just be their last chance to prove that they belong in this world as much as everyone else, that there are people who believe in them, and that they can learn to believe in themselves.

They could split the money equally at the end, but at any point in time, anyone could try to steal the accumulated money all for themselves. All they have to do is get to the gate without getting caught.
