American Delivery (US)

This award-winning documentary paints a joyous portrait of the moment babies come into the world, and reveals the heroic efforts of families and communities to catch new mothers before they fall through the country’s broken healthcare safety net. In the US, where more women die in childbirth than any other wealthy nation, the joys of pregnancy and motherhood are often overshadowed by fear. Amid a growing maternal health crisis, especially for women of color, this film tells the story of the glimmers of hope — women finding their voice and autonomy, nurses listening to women and offering birth choices, and hospital leaders welcoming the community as the patient — interweaving stories of women and their families across the country as they navigate the challenges of pregnancy, mental health, childbirth, and the postpartum period.

American Delivery is confirmed for airing on or after Thursday, May 1, on the following public TV stations and state/regional networks: Alabama Public Television, Arkansas PBS, Connecticut Public Television, Georgia Public Broadcasting, Idaho Public Television, Iowa PBS, KAET, KAKM, KAWE, KBDI, KCET, KCPT, KEDT, KEET, Kentucky Educational Television (KET), KENW, KETC, KIXE, KLRN, KLVX, KMOS, KNME, KNPB, KOCE, KOOD, KOZK, KPBS, KPBT, KPJK, KQED, KQEH, KRCB, KRMA, KRSU, KSPS, KSYS, KTCA, KTTZ, KTWU, KUAC, KUAT, KUEN, KUHT, KVCR, KVIE, KVPT, KWCM, KWSU, Maine Public Television, Maryland Public Television, Mississippi Public Broadcasting, Montana PBS, Nebraska Public Media, New Hampshire PBS, NJ PBS (New Jersey), OETA (Oklahoma), Oregon Public Broadcasting, PBS Hawai’i, PBS North Carolina, PBS Wisconsin, South Carolina ETV, South Dakota Public Broadcasting, Vermont Public, WABE, WBRA, WCET, WCFE, WCMU, WCTE, WCVE, WDCQ, WEDU, WEFS, WEIU, WETP, WFSU, WFWA, WFYI, WGBH, WGBY, WGCU, WGTE, WGVU, WHUT, WHYY, WILL, WIPB, WITF, WJCT, WKNO, WKYU, WLAE, WLIW, WLJT, WLRN, WLVT, WMHT, WMVS, WNED, WNEO, WNET, WNIN, WNIT, WNPT, WNYE, WOSU, WOUB, WPBS, WPBT, WPSU, WPTD, WPTO, WQED, WQLN, WQPT, WSIU, WSKG, WSRE, WTCI, WTTW, WTVI, WTVP, WTVS, WUCF, WUFT, WVIA, WVIZ, WVPT, WXEL, WXXI, WYES, WYIN, and WyomingPBS. Chicago, 1982: At least seven people die after ingesting cyanide-laced Tylenol capsules, sparking nationwide panic and one of the largest criminal investigations in US history. Is there one mastermind behind these horrific deaths, or is that simply a convenient scapegoat in a darker conspiracy and potential cover-up? Kevin Costner’s The West (US)

This new docuseries takes a fresh look at the epic history of the American West by delving into the desperate struggle for the land itself and how it still shapes the America we know today. It also highlights pivotal battles and iconic figures, from Chief Little Turtle’s decisive victory over the US Army, sparking General “Mad” Anthony Wayne’s counteroffensive and the inexorable push westward, to the tenacious stands of the Blackfeet, Comanche, and Lakota Sioux tribes and by warriors like Red Cloud and Crazy Horse, as well as the storied vigilante Joaquin Murrieta.

Blending powerful historical archive, striking visuals, and insightful expert interviews with globally-recognized historians, each episode highlights a crucial and often tragic chapter in the rich tapestry of the West. And by presenting these stories from diverse perspectives, the series illuminates both the indelible contributions of the pioneers who shaped the dream of the American West and the courageous resistance of Native American tribes who valiantly defended their ancestral land.
