Netflix released today the official trailer for First Love, a new Japanese romantic drama series that looks to be a real tearjerker. Check it out.
Inspired by the songs “First Love” and “Hatsukoi” by Japanese-American J-Pop sensation Hikaru Utada, the new Netflix series First Love tells the decades-long love story of Yae Noguchi (Hikari Mitsushima, Love Exposure) and Harumichi Namiki (Takeru Satoh, “Rurouni Kenshin” films).
Yae and Harumichi meet in the late 1990s and become high school sweethearts. As each pursues their dreams, they try to stay together, but fate has other things planned for them. Two decades later, Yae is divorced and the mother of a teenage son, while Harumichi is engaged to marry someone else. However, they soon discover that their love story is not quite over yet…
First Love, a Netflix Series, premieres globally on Thursday, November 24, exclusively on Netflix. (You can set a reminder for it now.)
Written and directed by Yuri Kanchiku (My Rainy Days), this show is the first-ever scripted series directly inspired by the songs of Hikaru Utada.
