Based on the critically-acclaimed novel American Rust by Philipp Meyer, the first season of American Rust, which premiered on Showtime, explores the tattered American dream in a Rust Belt town in southwest Pennsylvania through the eyes of police chief Del Harris. Harris becomes compromised when the son of the woman he loves, Grace Poe, is accused of murder, and he is forced to decide what he’s willing to do to protect him.

Starring as Del Harris and Grace Poe are Emmy® Award winner Jeff Daniels (The Newsroom, The Looming Tower) and Golden Globe® winner Maura Tierney (The Affair, ER), both of whom return for Season 2.

Following on from the events in Season 1, American Rust: Broken Justice takes us back to the fictional small town of Buell, Pennsylvania. As Del and Grace try to rebuild their lives, a string of seemingly unrelated murders hints at a much larger conspiracy that threatens everyone in this small, tight-knit town.

American Rust: Broken Justice premieres in the US, UK, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada as a ten-episode binge on Thursday, March 28, exclusively on Prime Video.

Opening four months after the shoot-out in West Virginia, Season 2 of American Rust sees Del back at the Pittsburgh P.D., back in the folds of The Brotherhood, and struggling to find balance between his life in the big city and the one with Grace back in Buell, where folks are trying to get their lives back on track. At work, Del and his new partner, Detective Angela Burgos (Luna Lauren Velez, Dexter), are assigned a high-profile bombing case that proves to be quite complex.

Grace’s son, Billy (Alex Neustaedter, Colony), accepts a financial settlement for his injuries from his time in prison and uses the money to buy Grace the property they lived on, which she uses to give herself new economic/work opportunities. Billy and Lee (Julie Mayorga, Rare Objects) try to figure out their relationship with each other as they navigate their own futures; she’s working as a paralegal at a law firm in Pittsburgh, while he’s decided to move on with his life by moving in with his best friend/her brother, Isaac (David Alvarez, West Side Story). For his part, Isaac, who has fully embraced his sexuality and is pursuing new romantic situations, has decided to make a life for himself in Buell and is working for Landwill Energy.

Meanwhile, Grace’s ex-husband, Virgil (Mark Pellegrino, Supernatural), is still up to his old ways and manages to get money from Grace to pursue a new business opportunity. Steve Park (Rob Yang, Succession) has taken over for Del as the Chief of Police in Buell, intent in taking Del down and proving his connection to the crimes that happened in West Virginia.

As each of them deals with their respective goals and issues, the town of Buell is rocked by more murders that create chaos in the lives of all of its residents.

Joining the Season 2 cast are Kyle Beltran (Inventing Anna) as Detective Fisher, Marc Menchaca (Ozark) as Vic Walker, Nick Sandow (Orange Is the New Black) as Mike Orr, Britian Seibert (A Murder at the End of the World) as Cynthia Frazier, Christopher Denham (Billions) as Russell Wolff, Amelia Workman (FBI) as Rinna Bransford, Leon Addison Brown (The Knick) as Chief Bolt, and Sara Lindsey (High Desert) as Maya Park.

Produced and distributed globally by Boat Rocker, American Rust: Broken Justice is executive produced by Dan Futterman, Adam Rapp, Jeff Daniels, Paul Martino, Michael De Luca, Ivan Schneeberg, David Fortier, Nick Nantell, Katie O’Connell Marsh, and Elisa Ellis.
