If you were wondering what happened to The Librarians: The Next Chapter after The CW announced that the unscripted series, The Wranglers, would be debuting in the time slot that has been given to the spin-off series, we now know that the show has moved to TNT, home of the original series, The Librarians.

The Librarians, which ran for four seasons between 2014 and 2018, follows the adventures of a team of four Librarians, who safeguard the magical repository of the world’s most powerful and dangerous supernatural artifacts at the Metropolitan Public Library, and protect the world from supernatural threats. They are played by Rebecca Romijn (“X-Men” films, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds), Christian Kane (Almost Paradise, Leverage: Redemption), Lindy Booth (Grey’s Anatomy, Copper), and John Harlan Kim (The Last Thing He Told Me, 9-1-1), with John Larroquette (Night Court, Boston Legal) as Jenkins/Galahad, the immortal manager of the Library’s Annex.

Noah Wyle (Leverage: Redemption, ER) also costars in The Librarians, reprising his role as Flynn Carsen from the three “Librarian” action-fantasy films — Quest for the Spear (2004), Return to King Solomon’s Mines (2006), and The Curse Of The Judas Chalice (2008) — which gave rise to the 2014 series. In the films, it’s Flynn’s job as the Librarian to protect the secret collection of historical and magical artifacts.

Soon we will have The Librarians: The Next Chapter, which centers on a Librarian from the past who has time-traveled to the present and finds himself stuck here. When he returns to his castle, which is now a museum, he inadvertently releases magic across the continent, so he is given a new team of Librarians to help him clean up the mess he made.

The lead cast of the new series are Callum McGowan (Jamestown), Jessica Green (The Outpost), Olivia Morris (Hotel Portofino), and Bluey Robinson (Britannia). Guest stars include Caroline Loncq (Mammals) and Christian Kane, who reprises his Librarians role as Jacob Stone.

A production of Electric Entertainment (The Ark, The Outpost), The Librarians: The Next Chapter is showrun by Dean Devlin (Almost Paradise, Leverage: Redemption), who executive produces alongside Marc Roskin and Rachel Olschan-Wilson of Electric Entertainment. Noah Wyle serves as producer. Mark Franco of Electric Entertainment and Jonathan English of Balkanic Media also produce.

Sonia Mehandjiyska, Head of International Distribution, and Nolan Pielak, SVP, International Distribution and Co-Production, at Electric Entertainment, will handle international sales for the new series, and Steve Saltman, Head of Domestic Sales for Electric Entertainment, will handle digital rights alongside TNT.

The premiere date for The Librarians: The Next Chapter on TNT has not been announced yet. Stay tuned for updates.
