Based on the popular Spanish play El chico de la última fila, Notes from the Last Row centers on Heo Mun-oh (Choi Min-sik, Exhuma, Big Bet), a grumpy literature professor and failed writer who becomes enamored by the talent of Lee Kang (Choi Hyun-wook, Weak Hero Class 1, Twenty-Five Twenty-One), a mysterious student who always sits in the back row of his class.

After reading Lee Kang’s writing assignment — the only submission that piques his interest — Mun-oh, burdened by insecurity and unfulfilled dreams, takes the engineering student with a hidden literary gift under his wing and begins special literature classes with him. Under the professor’s mentorship, Lee Kang, whose brilliance reignites Mun-oh’s passion for writing, embarks on an unpredictable journey, shaped by Mun-oh’s deep interest in his work. As their relationship develops, so do unexpected twists and turns.

Huh Joon-ho (Bloodhounds, Missing: The Other Side) costars as Kim Su-hun, Mun-oh’s successful writer friend. Laid-back and self-assured due to his fame, Su-hun was once the source of Mun-oh’s secret jealousy, leaving Mun-oh with a lingering sense of defeat. Kim Yunjin (Lost, Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area) plays Su-hun’s wife, Ahn Eun-joo, and Jin Kyung (Black Knight, Extraordinary Attorney Woo) plays Jo Hyeon-suk, Mun-oh’s psychologist wife.

A production of Kakao Entertainment and Gtist, the series is directed by Kim Gyu-tae (The Trunk, Our Blues) and written by Jang Myung-woo (My Mother, the Mermaid).

The premiere date for Notes from the Last Row has not been announced yet. Stay tuned for updates.
